Bear Flag Inn provides four guestrooms and one guest cottage. Each room in the main house takes its name from a local historic figure. The Peter Storm room features a stained-glass window of his bear flag design. This room includes a mission-style bed, armoire, a chair, and an ottoman. The private bath has a claw foot bathtub and shower. Guests can see vineyards, a walnut grove, and the Palisades Mountains from the windows. The Lovina Graves room, on the first floor, has a Pinehurst queen bed and a settee that unfolds into a single bed. This room has views of the Palisades and the vineyard, with a large bath that features a claw foot tub and shower, and a private exterior entrance. The John Cyrus room is equipped with a queen sleigh bed, mahogany antiques, and an oversized LazyBoy chair. This room overlooks the swimming pool and garden, and has a private bath with a claw foot tub and shower. The Milt Sherwood room has views of the garden, swimming pool, and Mount St Helena. The furnishings are from the era of this old farmhouse. It includes a detached private bathroom across the hall, which includes a claw foot bathtub and shower. The cottage, adjacent to the swimming pool, has a queen bed, armoire, and a back door leading to a heart-shaped patio. The living room has a Buck stove, chair, ottoman, and queen-size sofa bed. The bath features a claw foot bathtub and shower. All rooms include queen beds, antique furnishings, private baths with claw foot tubs, armoires, air conditioning, TV, bathrobes, fresh flowers, and complimentary wine.
Breakfast and More
Mornings include the aromas of fresh ground coffee, baked goods, and a homemade hot entree. Hearty breakfasts are served in the light-filled breakfast room. The Inn provides complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages from local wineries in the parlor.
Grounds and Activities
The grounds are located a few minutes from downtown, and include sunny spaces, a swimming pool, and a spa/hot tub. Guests can access a small vineyard, gardens, sitting spaces, patio tables and chairs, and a pool table. Calistoga's Old Faithful Geyser is near the Inn. Fly fishing guides offer Half-Day and Full-Day trips for clients, and include all necessary gear including wader and boot sets. Guests can see redwoods preserved and petrified by a volcanic eruption. The trail to the top of Mount St Helena gives views over the Napa Valley and down into the Bay Area. Safari West has over 400 exotic mammals and birds. Vincent Arroyo offers red wines.

Getting Here
From San Francisco, take Highway 101 north to Highway 37 east. Take Highway 29 through Napa and St Helena. At the blinking light at the entrance to Calistoga, continue north on Highway 128, which turns into Foothill Blvd. Pass Petrified Forest Road on your left; Bear Flag Inn is a little further up on the left. From Mendocino, take Highway 101 south to River Road/Mark West Springs Road exit. Continue on Porter Creek Road for 4.7 miles. Bear Flag Inn is on the left.
