Springtime features full creeks and brightly colored flowers sprouting among patches of snow. Winter provides amazing views with snow in the mountains and clear crisp views of the lake. The Yosemite Valley offers big-leaf maples, black oaks, and other deciduous trees that tend to begin to change colors around mid-October. A boardwalk trail below the Mono Lake County Park allows access to the North Shore Tufa area and marsh.
Transportation
Guests can take the YARTS shuttle bus that leaves daily from Mammoth Lakes, June Lake and Lee Vining from June 15th to October 15th and twice daily from July 1st to August 31st.
“This older hotel provides essential amenities, including microwaves and refrigerators, and its location is convenient for exploring nearby attractions like Tenaya Lake and Mammoth; plus, some rooms offer limited lake views. While a few reports mention noise issues and theft, others praise the friendly front desk service and the on-site restaurant, The Basin. Overall, it strikes me as a practical base for area adventures.”
