Lake View Lodge has mobile homes, suites, apartments and cottages. Mobile homes feature private entrances, bedrooms, seating areas, bathrooms with showers and hair dryers, and kitchens with stovetops, refrigerators, kitchenware, and ovens. They also include coffee machines, dining areas, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and outdoor dining areas. Suites have bathrooms with bathtubs, seating areas, and terraces. Cottages offer kitchenettes, cable satellite TVs, en suite bathrooms with hair dryers, and hardwood floors. Some cottages include wood fire pits and barbecue facilities, while others provide access to shared bathroom and showers.
Location and Views
Lake View Lodge is on the junction of Highway 395 and State Highway 120 in Lee Vining, originally named Lake View. The lodge is 50 km from Mammoth Yosemite. It is near Conway Summit (0.3 km), Lee Vining Canyon (1 km), Mono Lake (5 km), Upside-Down House (0.5 km), Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve (3 km), Mono Lake County Park (0.3 km), Mono Mills Historic Site (4 km), and Ellery Lake Lookout (0.3 km). It is the eastern portal to Yosemite National Park.
Things to Do
Guests can explore Mono Lake, Bodie Ghost Town, Tuolumne Meadows, and Yosemite. The Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center is nearby. The YARTS shuttle bus runs daily from Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, and Lee Vining (June 15th to October 15th) and twice daily (July 1st to August 31st). Hike trails along Old Mammoth Road or take a dirt road past beaver ponds to a trailhead. Visit Yosemite Valley to see maples, black oaks, and other trees. Guests can take a boardwalk trail below the Mono Lake County Park to the North Shore Tufa area. Mono Lake Committee hosts one-hour canoe tours on weekends at 8 am, 9:30 am, and 11 am (mid-June through mid-September).
Area Activities
Mono Lake is a salty inland sea with brine shrimp, alkali flies, and birds. Winter offers views with snow and clear views of the lake. Spring features creeks and flowers. Photography, bird watching, and spring skiing are available. The Mono Basin is home to birds. The 20 Lakes Basin offers trout. Most of the water flowing in Yosemite comes from snowmelt.
Convenient Stop
Lake View Lodge is a stop between Death Valley, Southern California, Las Vegas, and the Reno-Tahoe region. Guests can watch a 20-minute video on the Mono Basin that explores the area's ecology, geology, and cultural history. Enjoy aspen groves, wildflowers, cliffs, and waterfalls. Take the moderate trail to a mountain lake for fishing.
