Rooms at Kit Carson
Kit Carson Lodge provides 18 cabins and eight hotel rooms. Cabins accommodate two to eight people and include full kitchens with a refrigerator/freezer, gas range, and sink. Cabins also have private bathrooms with showers, wood-burning stoves, propane wall heaters, and outdoor decks. Hotel rooms have lake views. Five hotel rooms include one queen bed, two have a queen and a twin bed, and one has two twin beds. Pets are allowed in all cabins except Snowshoe and Cottontail, for an additional fee of $25 per day. Dogs are not allowed in hotel rooms.
Dining at the Lodge
The onsite restaurant serves breakfast from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, lunch from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and dinner from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with the last dinner seating at 8:30 pm. Guests can enjoy live music from Herb Boxhorn during dinner. The restaurant offers rustic lodge classics, grilled steaks, roasted chicken, fresh pastas, salads, and seasonal vegetable options. Chef Chris Jones also prepares Cajun and Creole specialties with fresh seafood.
Leisure at Silver Lake
Guests can participate in craft workshops with Katherine Venturelli. Kit Carson Lodge offers a nightly campfire. Wine tasting events take place on Tuesday nights from 5 to 7 p.m. The Silver Lake Art Gallery features artwork from local artists, including carvings, drawings, photographs, watercolors, and oil paintings. Guests can rent motor boats, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards at the front desk. Silver Lake is stocked with Rainbow and German Brown Trout. The Carson Pass area has trails available for hiking.

Kit Carson Lodge is located off Highway 88 on the shore of Silver Lake, 45 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. The lodge is situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California at an elevation of 7,300 feet above sea level. Reno-Tahoe International Airport is 100 km away. Nearby landmarks include Thunder Mountain (2 km), Kirkwood Lake (5 km), and Kirkwood Mountain Resort (4 km).
Additional Services
Cabins have complete kitchens and guests are expected to wash dishes prior to departure. Hotel room guests receive daily housekeeping services. Check-in for cabins is at 4 p.m., while check-in for hotel rooms is 12:30 p.m. Check-out is at 11 a.m. for all accommodations. Guests can purchase marshmallows and matches for the campfire at the front desk. Gabby's Gold Rush Tours offers trips to explore old trails and Devil's Ladder.
