HEADLANDS INN BED AND BREAKFAST, Mendocino

Headlands Inn provides accommodations with fresh flowers, chocolates, and wood-burning fireplaces. The Bessie Strauss Suite, located on the second floor, features whitewater ocean views, a sitting area, a king featherbed, a wood-burning fireplace, a mini-fridge, and a private bath with a tub/shower. The George Switzer Room on the top floor includes a village and ocean/village horizon view, a king featherbed, a wood-burning fireplace, window seats, a writing desk, and a private bath with a tub/shower. The Patricia Stofle Room, downstairs, offers ocean and garden views, a queen featherbed, a fireplace, a reading chair, and a private bath with a tub/shower. The John Barry Room on the top floor features white water ocean and village views, a queen featherbed, a wood-burning fireplace, a window seat, a mini-fridge, and a private bath with a tub/shower. The W J Wilson Room, named after WJ Wilson, is located on the second floor and includes a large private ocean view deck, a queen four-poster featherbed, a wood-burning stove, a sitting area, a mini-fridge, and a private bath with a shower. Annie's Room, located downstairs, has a queen featherbed and a private bath with a shower. The Caspar Cottage features hardwood floors, a sitting area with a wood-burning fireplace, a queen four-poster featherbed, a 32" HDTV with cable and a DVD player, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a jetted spa tub for two. Children and pets are allowed in this room for a $50 cleaning fee. The Headlands Hideaway includes a king-size featherbed, a full bath with a jetted tub, a gas fireplace, and a private sun deck with village views. A TV, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker are available. The Innlet, a 2-bedroom cottage, features an open concept living room with a full kitchen, a primary bedroom with a king bed and a private ocean view deck, and a secondary bedroom with a twin bed and a second twin bed window seat. Pets are welcome.

A full breakfast is delivered to each room daily, served on vintage English china with fresh flowers. The breakfast menu changes daily and includes juices, coffee, tea, home-baked goods, fresh fruit, and a hot entree, such as a Southwestern souffle, artichoke frittata, or peach-stuffed French toast with a side of sausage. Vegetarian, vegan, and special diet breakfasts are available upon request. The Headlands Hideaway receives a continental breakfast. Many local restaurants near Headlands Inn feature wine lists with selections from local vineyards, as well as fresh produce from local farms.

Headlands Inn is a quick walk to shops, galleries, restaurants, and the Pacific Ocean. The Inn provides a pair of bikes for guest use. Local attractions include whale watching and crab cruises, culinary competitions, and art exhibits. Events include the Anderson Valley White Wine Weekend in February, the Mendocino Whale Festival in March, the Redwood Coast Whale & Jazz Festival in April, the Boonville Beer Festival, and the Mendocino Film Festival. In December, the Festival of Lights takes place at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Various music groups perform throughout the gardens.

Headlands Inn is located in the Historic Village of Mendocino, on the corner of Howard and Albion Streets. It is 5 minutes' walk to Mendocino's shops, galleries, restaurants, and the Pacific Ocean. Landmarks nearby include Harvest Market at Mendosa's (0.5 km), Van Damme State Park (3 km), Mendocino Presbyterian Church (0.5 km), and The Kelley House Museum (0.3 km). From Oregon, take 101 South to 1 South to Mendocino. Turn onto Main Street, then right onto Howard Street. The Inn is two blocks up on the left.

Headlands Inn offers wireless internet. Small pets are welcome in the Caspar Cottage, Headlands Hideaway, and Innlet by prior arrangement; a cleaning fee applies. Children under 8 are allowed in the Inn by arrangement and in the Cottage, Hideaway, and Innlet. The Inn is smoke-free.
