The Golden Gate Hotel has basic rooms with a full-size bed or two twin-size beds, a plush robe, and a personal sink. A shared bathroom is located down the hall. European-style rooms have full-sized beds, a pedestal sink, a private shower, and two plush robes. A shared full bathroom is down the hall. Premium Classic rooms face the back and have a queen-sized bed, bay windows, a seating area, en-suite bathrooms, and claw-foot tubs. Room 407 includes a queen-sized bed, wood wardrobe, antique vanity, and vintage-style bathroom with a 'pillbox' toilet and walk-in shower. Room 507 includes one full-size bed plus one single bed, fitting up to three adults with a bathroom down the hall shared with Room 506. Two rooms with an interconnecting door include Room 306 with a queen bed and a private bathroom and Room 305 with two twin beds sharing Room 306's bathroom. Queen-sized beds come with wood headboards and a seating area with two chairs and a table.

Guests are brought orange juice and a basket of croissants from local bakery Bakers of Paris. A custom blended Breakfast at Tiffany's loose-leaf tea, a Leland Tea Company take on the classic English Breakfast tea, is available as morning black tea. Coffee is a Mocha Java medium roast, blended from washed Ethiopian Sidama and wet-processed Indonesian. Nighthawks' Royal Decaf is a blend of light and dark roasts grown in Mexico and naturally decaffeinated using the water process method. Complimentary baked goods are served daily in the front parlor, main floor from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. The amenity fee includes breakfast buffet at Jeanne D'arc, located at the sister property, Cornell Hotel.

The Golden Gate Hotel, built in 1913, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Vintage birdcage Elevator connects the four floors. Historical photographs line the halls. Jeanne D'arc Event Space at the Cornell Hotel de France is available for events. It can host up to 80 guests and has a fully equipped kitchen with flexible catering options.

Located up the hill from Union Square, between Nob Hill and a few blocks from Chinatown, the Golden Gate Hotel is near the Powell/Mason and Powell/Hyde cable-car stop. Nearby landmarks include Grace Cathedral (0.5 km), Chinatown (1 km), and Pier 39 (2 km). Guests can walk to the Moscone Center, and Union Square is a five-minute walk. Point Reyes National Seashore and San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge are located in this region.

The front desk is open from 7 am to 11 pm. The amenity fee includes high-speed Wi-Fi access and access to a water station. Housekeeping will enter daily for stay over guests to freshen bathrooms, empty trash cans, and make the bed. Safe flame-free candles are available at the front desk. The complimentary breakfast buffet is served at sister property, Cornell Hotel, from 7:30AM - 10:30AM. Pet fee is $25/night. A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed per room with a total limit of 40lbs.
